MOSFET Board: Steady-State and Transient Thermal Simulation

As a member of the SDSU Mechatronics Mechanical Team, I was assigned the task of running a steady-state and transient thermal simulation on a MOSFET board that will be used in the 2019 Mechatronics Autonomous Submarine. This task required SolidWorks 3-D modelling, SolidWorks Thermal Simulations, and a basic understanding of thermodynamics concepts such as convection and specific heat. To collect a reliable set of data, eight different thermal simulations (four steady-state simulations and four transient simulations) were conducted within SolidWorks. Half of the simulations were conducted on a 3-D Modeled copper MOSFET board while the other simulations were performed on a MOSFET board attached to an Aluminum 6061 heatsink.
